Supergirl Week and Women of Influence

During the week of International Women’s Day 2020, we held two very special events  – our 5th Supergirl Week and the Women of Influence Evening.

Supergirl Week is  a memorable week on our calendar where students and staff gather together to celebrate the power of being a girl through fun and laughter whilst reflecting on the power that girls possess and how this power enables us to have a strong voice in the world.

The 2020 Supergirl Week theme was ‘Find your Voice, Speak your Power’  – which promoted the idea that Loreto girls  should use their inherent gifts and empowerment to help stand up for girls’ whose voices are being silenced.   This complemented  the Student Council’s overarching vision of ‘Girls by Girls’ – and in the spirit of Verity, students were encouraged to speak their truth, and help those disadvantaged girls in our society speak their truth.

On Wednesday 4 March we  welcomed back four inspirational ex-student’s at our Women of Influence event. We thank Genevieve Jacobs ’84, Angela Buford ’09, Grace Murray ’09 and Camilla Ward ’90, for taking the time to come back to Normanhurst to talk about the influence  their Loreto education has had in their lives and the positive impact they are having in their regional and rural communities.

It was a wonderful evening and a full house in the Curran Theatre!
